Why do I need a Buyer's Agent?

Are you being represented? Why should you have an agent represent you?

Often buyers drive by a house and call the agent on the sign, stop by an open house, or simply meet at some house the buyer is interested in.  That is fine, however, do you know if that agent is looking out for you the Buyer or the interests of the Seller?
Entering into an agreement with an agent who represents the Buyer (also called "Buyer's Agent" ) will provide that the agent will act on the Buyer's behalf in locating a property to purchase.  The Buyer's agent will assist the Buyer in preparing offers, and negotiating in the best interest of the Buyer.  No matter whom the agent represents, all real estate agents are obligated by law to treat all parties to a real estate transaction honestly and fairly. Please see “Understanding Who Real Estate Agents Represent” for more information.

Be sure to ask and get a written agreement if you want to have someone looking out for you, the Buyer!

  • Take financing class, if needed.
  • Look for homes
  • Make an offer
  • Arrange for appraisal
  • Arrange home inspection
  • Arrange other inspections
